Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians: facemeltingly good

ohmygodthispieceissogood!!

Yep – I was Bieber-ing it out for Steve Reich, giddy like a 16-year-old girl. This was the first time I’ve heard this piece live, and man does it make a difference. I’ve said frequently that minimalist, or post-minimalist or whatever you want to call it, music needs to be heard live. Because it is an experience, not just a concert. It’s a total body/mind immersion into the rhythms and harmonies of this piece.
